Consider volunteering at Center of Hope. Here are just a few of the ongoing opportunities to serve our guests. Orientation and training will be provided.
- Front Desk Host/Hostess Receptionist
It is Center of Hope's desire for everyone who comes in to feel welcome and accepted. Volunteers who are up front would be the initial people to make this happen. The Front Desk is where ministry begins as they listen and answer questions about the ministry, to help with clothing items, bike purchases, basic computer questions, and answer the phone.
- Faith Community Nursing
The vision of the Faith Community Nursing Program is to have at least one nurse in the Care Center during all open hours, to address the basic medical questions and needs of guests. The focus of the program is heath education, advocacy, and promoting wellness.
Often, donated bicycles are received in need of a little tune-up and basic repair. Bike recipients also come back for ongoing maintenance and repair needs. An extra pair of hands and a willing heart are always welcome!
- Winter/Seasonal Clothing
Center of Hope receives thousands of items of winter clothing every year! Volunteers are needed to help sort the clothing into gender, type and sizes. One-time and ongoing assistance is always welcome.
- Mother-Baby Baskets
Our Mother-Baby Baskets are very much appreciated by the new mothers that receive them. A number of items have been donated that need to be combined into a “basket” to offer to the mother when she comes in for a visit.
- Sports Night (Basketball) Ministry
Sports Night is a night to play basketball with the young adults in the community. Participants meet on Sundays (from about Oct. - April) at 7 p.m. at Linwood Wesleyan Church gymnasium on 57th Street. Young men play basketball and participate in small groups. Women and children come to watch the basketball games. If you're interested in this time of fellowship and sportsmanship, consider joining the fun!
- Bible Studies
Weekly Bible studies are open for everyone, spending time in the Word and growing relationships with those who attend. Volunteers may be asked to lead a study.
